Are Thumbprints Durable?

  • Yes. Thumbprints are created out of production grade clay and are fully hardened.  
  • They can withstand all the functions of daily life, are made to be rubbed/used frequently, and can be easily cleaned with soap and water.

Will my loved one's print come off of the Remembrance Thumbprint?

  • No.  Our process allows the print to become part of the finished piece.  You can rub and hold their hand again without the worry of tarnish.

How long has Thumbprint been around?

  • Thumbprints were created by our Master Potter and owner in 2014.
  • The first collection was Prayer Thumbprint, followed by Remembrance Thumbprint and then Everyday Thumbprint.
  • We currently have Thumbprints in all 50 states and 17 countries.
  • Understanding the incredible connection power of clay, we expanded to strategic and highly valued funeral home partnerships in 2021.

Are pieces mass produced?

  • No, each piece is individually handcrafted by a professional potter.  We take the utmost care to handcraft each piece with the end-user in mind
  • The studio received a copyright on one of the Thumbprints designs in 2016.
  • Thumbprint is not a factory.  We operate out of Under The Horizon, LLC, an outreach based professional pottery studio in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.

How long will it take to get my order?

  • Everyday and Prayer Thumbprints are kept in stock.
  • Custom Remembrance Thumbprints are made-to-order.  Most orders are complete within 3 weeks. 
  • For specific stock inquiries, please see the contact us page.
  • You will receive an e-mail when your package has been shipped. With this information you will be able to track your order.

Does Thumbprint welcome partners such a businesses, funeral homes, and individual reps? 

    Yes, as a dynamic brand we are open to partners inquires.  Please email us at info@UnderTheHorizon.net to inquire about potential partnerships. 


Why does the finish look a bit different on each piece?

  • Each Thumbprint is individually hand created by our professional potters.
  • The studio reserves the right to change glaze as supply availability changes. Designs details may vary but, all pieces are made with love and professional craftsmanship.


Do I have to work with a partner funeral home to order a custom Thumbprint?

  • No. We love our business partners.  We also work with individuals.  If ordering directly, you will be responsible for obtaining and submitting a copy of the fingerprints and/or remains.


How does Under The Horizon ensure use of the correct fingerprint on customer Remembrance Thumbprints?
Under The Horizon, LLC, wants to express our heartfelt gratitude for allowing us to use the fingerprints of your loved one. We understand that this is a deeply personal matter, and we want to assure you that we are handling everything with the utmost respect and sensitivity. Our goal is to honor their memory and ensure their legacy is preserved in the most meaningful way possible.

Our record keeping is expertly organized to ensure proper order fulfillment and quality control.

The studio meets this function by:

  • Verifying the fingerprint and order details with in 48 hours of email submission. This act begins the chain of custody with the start of the customer account.
  • From the first email submission, a customer account is created with the funeral home/partner information and the decedents name. The print is added to this file and is kept both in its original form and the artwork form that is used to create the final pottery piece. This account is both kept securely in our operating system and is printed in-house.
  • Each stage of handling, including production, storage, and shipping has been meticulously recorded and verified against the customer file to ensure accountability. This process guarantees that the product has been maintained under the highest standards throughout its journey.
